Home visits are reserved for patients who are housebound, or too ill or frail to attend the surgery. We regularly visit patients who are suffering from terminal or life-limiting conditions. If you think you need a house call and fulfil these criteria please ring before 10.00 am to request a home visit. Please don’t abuse this service, A doctor can see around 4 patients in surgery in the time it takes to do an average visit,
Our receptionist will ask you questions about your illness and check your address and phone number. A Doctor will ring you back over lunch time to establish how the problem can be best dealt with. The Doctor may visit, give you advice over the phone or refer you to the district nursing service or Urgent Care Team.
The Urgent Care Team are a team of nurses who visit patients at home with problems like chest infections, water infections, exacerbations of COPD, abdominal pain, diarrhoea and vomiting. You can refer yourself by calling 07766408661.
Please note
- We do not visit children. Bringing sick children out of the home will not make them worse and means they will be seen much quicker than if you wait for a house visit.
- Remember transport to surgery is the patient’s responsibility We cannot visit you just because you do not have access to a car. We are on a bus route and our receptionists will ring you a taxi if you need one.
- You may be able to book an evening or “later afternoon” appointment if transport is a problem and a relative or friend can bring you to an appointment after work.
